The Cryptographic Desequencer is the keycard workbench. Its workflow uses a blank disposable card and the appropriate cryptographic chip; buying a chip alone does not give you an already usable keycard.
Prepare the correct card workflow
Match the chip to the access card you need and obtain a Blank Disposable Keycard. Jackson lists blank cards and Command, Engineering, Medical, Security and Service chips among possible stock. Locked crates and keycard manufacture are connected tasks, but the machine is not a substitute for checking the crate type.
Current chip availability
UPDATE 049 removed Supply and Science cards and chips from merchant stock because their corresponding crates are not present. Owned crypto chips can be swapped by dragging one onto another. Do not buy a similarly named machine module expecting it to work as a cryptographic chip.
