Scavenging and Tool Preparation
Last checked: · UPDATE 049
Direct answer
Scavenging is an after-hours route to salvage, but tool location matters. UPDATE 049 removes the flashlight's scavenging benefit when it has been left at the shop and makes its wound-chance effect visible on arrival at the Dumping Grounds.
Bring the tools whose effects you need
Check what is actually carried before departing. The patch also says tools placed on the ground count as within reach. This distinguishes the local activity inventory from equipment left back at the store; simply owning a flashlight somewhere is not enough for its benefit.
| Flashlight bonus display | On arrival at Dumping Grounds |
|---|---|
| Ground tools | Count as within reach |
| Shop-left flashlight | No scavenging passive bonus |
Know when an upgrade is finished
UPDATE 049 prevents spending more electronic parts on a fully upgraded Scav Scanner. Check the scanner's state before applying material rather than repeatedly consuming parts when no further tier exists. Evaluate salvage by its condition and usable production relationship, not just the number of objects collected.
