Secure a manageable colony
Keep breeding animals identifiable and reserve food before harvesting or selling stock. The current animal reference separates growth, hunger, fertility and other traits; an attractive growth figure alone does not settle the cost of raising an animal. Inspect the Gene Scanner values when choosing breeding stock.

Use current cage rules
UPDATE 049 bases wear on living-animal size, allows cage-specific cleanup and feeding equipment, and changes scrap repairs to half of maximum durability. Rat Wrangler was made visible in the historical 48.3.12 patch, but it is a current Demo choice rather than a future mode.
