Observed event price comparison
Last checked: · UPDATE 049 (public baseline)
Direct answer
Enter an old observed quote and a new observed quote for the same item, quantity and condition. The tool subtracts old from new and divides that change by the old quote to calculate percentage change. A zero old quote makes the percentage undefined; no event rate or future sale price is assumed.

Enter the old and new observed quotes for the same item, quantity and condition. Percentage change uses the old quote as its baseline; no event rate is assumed.
Compare like-for-like observed quotes
Record the quote before and after the change you are investigating. Keep the item, quantity, condition and quote context consistent so the comparison answers the intended question. The calculator measures the difference you entered; it cannot establish that an event caused it.
Read the sign of the difference
A positive price change means the new quote is higher; a negative change means it is lower. Percentage change equals (new quote minus old quote) divided by old quote, times one hundred. An old quote of zero has no defined percentage change, even when the new quote is also zero. The absolute price difference is still shown.
Check container and contents
UPDATE 049 says market events now correctly reprice both liquid and its container. It also distinguishes a filled water container from an empty household-goods container. Make sure both observed quotes refer to the same item state rather than mixing container and contents assumptions. Record any customer or bargaining differences separately.
