UV Filter Will Not Apply

Direct answer
UPDATE 049 prevents UV filters from being used on unowned items. A rejected action on a customer's water is therefore not by itself a bug. The structured water reference also separates UV behavior from ordinary filter pore-and-wear calculations.
Check ownership before repeating the action
Confirm that the water or target item belongs to you and inspect the tool's remaining state. Do not treat previewing a vendor container as ownership. The patch's restriction specifically changes an interaction that older guides or videos may demonstrate.

A disappearance report is not a verified fix
Player reports of a UV light vanishing are demand signals, not proof of one cause. Record the target, ownership, tool state, exact action and resulting inventory. Preserve a save if the item disappears unexpectedly; no duplication trick, restoration command or confirmed disappearance workaround is claimed here.
