Use a Water Testing Strip or AquaScan to inspect water rather than trusting its name or apparent clarity. The current structured reference lists six contaminant categories, including minerals, which also reduce the displayed drinking-water purity.
Read the separate measurements
A purity number summarizes a mixture; it does not tell you which treatment will work. Read organic waste, microbes, physical contamination, chemicals, minerals and heavy metals. Compare before-and-after readings on the same batch so a volume change is not mistaken for successful purification.

Scanner behavior in UPDATE 049
The official update fixes the delayed AquaScan result tooltip and a scan-then-drag interaction. It also brings an already-open scanner panel to the front when used. If a scan seems missing, inspect the panel before repeating the action and record the build if the old symptom returns.
